Bouche Fermée is an ensemble which was founded and first appeared in
Thessaloniki,
Greece, in 2012.
The ensemble aims to create «images»,
through mainly, but not limited to, music of the cinema.
The repertoire
mostly includes foreign and Greek composers’ film music, such as Manos
Hadjidakis,
Eleni Karaindrou, Yann Tiersen, Nino Rota, Astor Piazzolla, Zbigniew Preisner etc.

The orchestrations are an original work of Maria
Gouvali, whose compositions are also included in the repertoire.
Through bold orchestrations, with closed mouths (bouche fermée = closed
mouth), the ensemble introduces big screen’s music pieces to the
audience,
penetrating into the era and the mood of each film.

The music
of the cinema, autonomous and powerful, harmonizes with the image,
color and moments of the films, excerpts of which are projected during the concert.
