Το Plisskën Festival επιστρέφει στο ετήσιο ραντεβού του στις 8 Δεκεμβρίου 2018 στους χώρους του Piraeus 117 Academy και του Wave Athens.
Μέχρι και την επιστροφή του το καλοκαίρι του 2019, το Plisskën Festival παρουσιάζει το χειμερινό του lineup στους χώρους του Piraeus 117 Academy & του Wave Athens, με μερικούς από τους σπουδαιότερους καλλιτέχνες των τελευταίων δύο δεκαετιών. Στην κορυφή, η πολυαναμενόμενη ζωντανή εμφάνιση του David August για πρώτη φορά στην Ελλάδα, ενός από τα καλύτερα live acts του κόσμου. Τον David August θα πλαισιώσουν οι ζωντανές εμφανίσεις τριών μοντέρνων "θρύλων" της ηλεκτρονικής σκηνής: του πρωτοπόρου της New Disco Νορβηγού Lindstrøm, του πολυπράγμονα Γερμανού μινιμαλιστή Pantha Du Prince και της ανανεωμένης μουσικής ιδιοφυϊας του Άγγλου Nathan Fake. To lineup του Main Stage, έρχεται να συμπληρώσει η πρωτοεμφανιζόμενη Object Blue της οποίας οι πρόσφατες live εμφανίσεις λαμβάνουν διθυραμβικές κριτικές. Στο Aquarium, που θα φιλοξενηθεί στο Wave Athens, θα εμφανιστούν για πρώτη φορά στη χώρα μας 4 από τις πιο δυναμικές και καταξιωμένες djs των τελευταίων ετών: η Elena Colombi που εκπροσωπεί το Italian New Wave, μία από τις εξέχουσες curators φεστιβάλ ανά τον κόσμο όπως η Debonair, η εκρηκτική deep house / tech Παλαιστίνια παραγωγός Sama' καθώς και η υπερδραστήρια Μεξικανή Lokier του dark electro ήχου. Μαζί τους, φυσικά, και η σημαιοφόρος της αρχαίας πόλης, Black Athena.
David August (DE)
Ο David August, αν και μόλις 28 χρονών, έχει καταφέρει να αναδειχθεί σε έναν από τους σημαντικότερους παραγωγούς / καλλιτέχνες της ηλεκτρονικής σκηνής για τη δεκαετία που διανύουμε. Ξεκινώντας με τα πρώτα του singles και remixes το 2010, συνεχίζοντας με το κλασσικό πια πρώτο του LP "Τimes' το 2013 και καταλήγωντας φέτος με την πολυαναμένομενη νέα του κυκλοφορία "D' Angelo" στο προσωπικό του label, 99 Chants. Στο μεσοδιάστημα έχει προσφέρει ένα από τα καλύτερα Boiler Room sets όλων των εποχών, μία συγκλονιστική συνεργασία με τη Γερμανική Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα, κυκλοφορίες σε σπουδαίες εταιρείες όπως η Ιnnervisions και η Ninja Tune και ταυτόχρονα έχει καταφέρει να αναδεικνύεται κάθε χρόνο ώς ένα από τα καλύτερα live acts του κόσμου.

Pantha Du Prince (DE)
Pantha Du Prince είναι το ευρέως γνωστό προσωνύμιο του Hendrick Weber μέσω του οποίου συνδυάζει αριστοτεχνικά από το 2002 εώς και σήμερα τη house με την techno και τη shoegaze indie. O Weber ξεκίνησε να παίζει κιθάρα στα δεκατρία του, μεταπηδώντας στο μπάσο σε διάφορα rock σχήματα της περιοχής του. Μεταπήδησε ωστόσο πολύ γρήγορα στην ηλεκτρονική μουσική μέσω ενός 16-κάναλου μίκτη, ενός laptop και πολλών samples. Οι πρώτοι του πειραματισμοί εξελίχτηκαν σε ολοκληρωμένες κυκλοφορίες ως Panthel και Glühen 4 μέχρι να καταλήξει στο Pantha Du Prince. Ως Pantha Du Prince έχει κυκλοφορήσει 5 albums και πολλά 12" singles και έχει καθορίσει ένα δικό του προσωπικό ήχο που ισορροπεί αριστουργηματικά μεταξύ της μελαγχολικής techno και της ποπ μελωδίας. Αποτέλεσμα αυτού είναι, το μουσικό αμάλγαμα επιρροών από τον ήχο του Detroit techno και του UK acid μέχρι το shoegaze των Slowdive και της jangle-pop των Chills, να απευθύνεται εξίσου ηχητικά στα μεγαλύτερα dancefloors του πλανήτη αλλά και σε οποιοδήποτε σπιτικό ηχοσύστημα ανά τον κόσμο.

Lindstrom (NO)
Ο Νορβηγός πρωτοπόρος της nu-disco μεγάλωσε με country μουσική έξω από την βιομηχανική πόλη Stavanger. Στη συνέχεια μετακόμισε στο Όσλο όπου και μαζί με τον Prins Thomas ίδρυσαν τη δισκογραφική Feedelity και από τότε ξεκίνησε να γράφει ιστορία στο χώρο των Νew Disco, Space Disco και Cosmic Disco μαζί με τους Νορβηγούς συνοδοιπόρους του Todd Terje, Prins Thomas, Εrot και Bjorn Torske. Η ποσότητα και η ποιότητα των κυκλοφοριών του είναι αξιοθαύμαστη τις δύο αυτές δεκαετίες είτε με τις δικές του προσωπικές παραγωγές και τα κλασσικά πλέον "Ι Feel Space", "Where You Go I Go Too" και "Closing Shot" μεταξύ άλλων είτε σε συνεργασίες και remixes με άλλους καλλιτέχνες όπως τους Franz Ferdinand, LCD Soundsystem και The Killers. Η παρακαταθήκη του στον μοντέρνο disco ήχο έχει αποκτήσει πλέον μυθικό status ενώ οι ζωντανές εμφανίσεις του ανά τον πλανήτη λαμβάνουν διθυραμβικές κριτικές από το closing set του Primavera μέχρι το πρόσφατο live project του "Blinded by the Leds".

Ο Nathan Fake μεγάλωσε στο Norfolk της Αγγλίας και από πολύ νωρίς επηρεάστηκε τόσο από τους ήχους των Aphex Twin και Orbital όσο και από τον εξοπλισμό που χρησιμοποιούσαν. Η γνωριμία του με τον James Holden και την τότε δισκογραφική του Border Community τον ώθησε στις πρώτες του κυκλοφορίες, όπου μεταξύ άλλων βρίσκουμε και το κλασσικό "Τhe Sky Was Pink", με αποκορύφωμα το πρώτο του εμβληματικό LP "Drowning In A Sea Of Love" το 2006 και ένα από τα καλύτερα albums της περασμένης δεκαετίας κατά γενική ομολογία. Από τότε ο Nathan Fake έχει κυκλοφορήσει τρία albums, με πιο πρόσφατο το "Providence" στη Ninja Tune αλλά και δεκάδες EPs, singles και remixes για καλλιτέχνες και δισκογραφικές όπως η Warp, η Domino και οι Radiohead. Τα τελευταία χρόνια περιοδεύει εκτενώς ανά τον κόσμο με τους, - μεταξύ άλλων - Orbital, Four Tet, Jon Hopkins και Clark καθώς θεωρείται ένας από τους πιο δυναμικούς live ηλετκρονικούς παραγωγούς του κόσμου.

Γεννημένη στο Τόκυο, μεγαλωμένη στο Πεκίνο και γαλουχημένη μουσικά στο Λονδίνο, η Object Blue συνδυάζει πειραματικούς ήχους με τις techno φόρμες δίνοντας κυρίως έμφαση στις αυτοσχέδιες προεκτάσεις τους στις live εμφανίσεις της. Έχει βρεθεί σε όλες τις φετινές λιστές του μουσικού διεθνή Τύπου με τους ones to watch, με αποκορύφωμα αυτήν του FACT και τους 10 καλύτερους techno/house παραγωγούς για το 2018. Οι εμφανίσεις της ανά τον κόσμο είναι απρόβλεπτες μιας και αποτελούν ένα αμάλγαμα live techno, πειραματικών installations και dj sets. Το ντεμπούτο EP της Do you plan to end a siege? κυκλοφόρησε από την Tobaco Tracks το Μάρτιο, έκανε πρεμιέρα στο Mixmag και ήδη θεωρείται υποψήφιο για μία από τις καλύτερες κυκλοφορίες της χρονιάς που διανύουμε. Το μέλλον ανήκει ήδη στην Object Blue.

Elena Colombi (IT)
Μια πραγματική νομάς σε μουσικό και πνευματικό επίπεδο με όνομα - συνώνυμο των parties η ραδιοφωνική παραγωγός του NTS με έδρα το Λονδίνο, Elena Colombi, δεν εξαντλείται σε ένα συγκεκριμένο μουσικό είδος. Το επηρεασμένο στυλ της από την post-punk, techno, wave και EBM χαρίζει στην ταλαντούχα Ιταλίδα DJ εκρηκτικές εμφανίσεις πίσω από τα decks.

Με μια ιδιαίτερη προτίμηση για την post-punk, την techno και τη vintage electronica η Debonair ξέρει να ενώνει τα κομμάτια του μουσικού πάζλ. Έχοντας το ρόλο της υπεύθυνης προγράμματος και διευθύντριας του ραδιοφωνικού σταθμού NTS, η Debonair έστησε τον ραδιοφωνικό σταθμό ενώ παράλληλα έπαιζε ως resident. Μετρώντας στο ενεργητικό της εμφανίσεις από το Berghain του Βερολίνου μέχρι και το Chapter 10, με ήχο που κυμαίνεται μεταξύ της EBM, post-punk, techno και electro η Debonair προμηνύει ασυνήθιστες βραδιές.

سماء 'SAMA (PS)
Η πολυμήχανη SAMA', ξεκίνησε να μιξάρει το 2006 στη Ραμάλα και το 2010 άρχισε να φτιάχνει τη δική της μουσική και να ενδιαφέρεται για την ηλεκτρονική μουσική σύνθεση και συγκεκριμένα για είδη όπως η techno, η house και πιο σκοτεινά υποείδη. Την επόμενη χρονιά, θα βρεθεί στο Λονδίνο όπου και θα ολοκληρώσει τις σπουδές της πάνω στην ηχοληψία και τη μουσική παραγωγή στη S.A.E. και θα κυκλοφορήσει δύο άλπουμ ως Skywalker, το EP Life’s Pace μέσω της Itchycoo Records και το Quantum Morphosis που το ανέβασε στο internet (είναι διαθέσιμο στο itunes και σε όλες τις γνωστές πλατφόρμες To 2013, θα βρεθεί στο Κάιρο όπου και θα ξεκινήσει η καριέρα της ως ηχολήπτης, μουσικός παραγωγός, audio trainer και sound designer για ταινίες και το 2016 θα συνεργαστεί με την Eka3 και θα φτιάξει ένα πρακτορείο το Awyav που θα εκπροσωπεί ανεξάρτητους καλλιτέχνες από τον Αραβικό κόσμο. Η SAMA’, αποφάσισε το 2017 που θα μετακόμιζε στο Παρίσι να αλλάξει το καλλιτεχνικό της όνομα από Skywalker σε SAMA’, το πραγματικό της όνομα, που σημαίνει ουρανός στα Αραβικά. Την ίδια χρονιά, θα βραβευτεί από το Γαλλικό Ινστιτούτο και θα της προσφέρει να μείνει για 6 μήνες στο Cité internationale des arts για να δουλέψει για το επόμενό της άλπουμ και live show.

Lokier (MX)
Η γεννημένη στο Μεξικό και μόνιμος κάτοικος του Βερολίνου, Yoan Rodriguez Lokier ή αλλιώς Lokier, ξεκίνησε τη μουσική της καριέρα στα 21 της παίζοντας σε παράνομα πάρτι και αργότερα σε bar. Εμπνευσμένη από indie και pop punk ακούσματα, κυκλοφόρησε στις αρχές του 2014 το πρώτο της EP και τα πρώτα της remixes μέσω δισκογραφικών εταιρειών όπως η Les Disques De La Mort και η Throne of Blood. Από τότε που μετακόμισε στο Βερολίνο ο ήχος της κινείται και εξελίσσεται σε κάτι πιο σκοτεινό, industrial και electro. Τα DJ sets της θα ακολουθήσουν την ίδια πορεία με πιο ωμούς ήχους και δόσεις από acid synth κάνοντάς τα πιο περίπλοκα και ωμά. Το Μάρτιο του 2018, κυκλοφόρησε μέσω της δισκογραφικής της Solar, «Squirrels On Film», ένα EP της καθώς επίσης και ένα remix για τους Soft Moon μέσω της Aufnahme & Wiedergabe. Τα φωνητικά της, συνοδεύουν το cover του Djedjotronic για το «Our Friends Electric» του Gary Newman (Boys Noize Records) και τον Οκτώβρη κυκλοφορεί το ντεμπούτο της, 12’’, μέσω της Pinkman Records. Η Lokier είναι επίσης μέλος των She Made Monster που αποτελούνται από εκείνη και την Γαλλίδα DJ, φίλη και παραγωγό Morgan Hammer (Optimo Trax) που μαζί δημιουργούν εκρηκτικά DJ sets.

Black Athena (GR)
Οι Black Athena είναι οι σημαιοφόροι του μαύρου διαγαλαξιακού ήχου μέσα στο χρόνο. Έχοντας σαν αφετηρία το «The F0nk» πηδούν από πλανήτη σε πλανήτη κηρύττοντας το ευαγγέλιο της μουσικής τους, με τη βοήθεια ενός ασημένιου τουρμποκίνητου SL1200MK2. Φανταστείτε τον J Dilla, τον Moodymann και τον Matt 'Jam' Lamont εγκλωβισμένους σε ένα ασανσέρ μιας πολυκατοικίας στη Φωκίωνος Νέγρη. Αυτός είναι ο ήχος των Black Athena το 2020. Οι Black Athena είναι πλάσματα της νύχτας, ζουν στα FM του Athens Voice Radio 102,5 κάθε Τετάρτη και Κυριακή 10 με 12 το βράδυ και σε μερικά από τα καλύτερα bars και clubs της αρχαίας πόλης, όπου διοργανώνουν τα «Culture Jam» concept parties τους.

DAVID AUGUST (DE)
The first shafts of morning light creep over the hilltop terraces, illuminating the ancient commune of Palestrina - David August breathes new air. Born in Hamburg in 1990, August composes and performs multifaceted electronic music with hopeful tones and a human aesthetic. “Creating music - the act of creating in general - should be free from rationalization. In the best case, relying solely on subconscious communication,” says the classically trained multi-instrumentalist. Speaking with David, one immediately realizes the value that he places upon his well-earned artistic independence and steadfast sincerity. This hard-fought pursuit can be traced clearly through the producer’s recorded works; from a string of early dance singles and remixes (2010-2014), followed by his celebrated debut album, Times (2013), to a handful of genre-defying outings on Ninja Tune sub-label, Counter Records (2016), the Tonmeister graduate (2017) continues to uncloak hidden inner paths yet to be discovered. Adorning the altars of his newly-founded label, 99CHANTS, DCXXXIX A.C. (2018), the first in a series of offerings, basks in shifting, transcendental glow. The birthplace of his mother, this highland outpost has, as of recent, casted rays of inspiration upon the young musician. “After 26 years, I suddenly feel the urgency to connect actively with my Mediterranean provenience and culture. Although always present in me, I rather kept it hidden, private and absent from my creative work. These roots have always evoked the stronger emotions within me.” While his live-show takes various shapes and forms, free improvisation lives at the core of the artist’s fascination. Whether he performs solo for the Boiler Room (2014) or a Resident Advisor Live Session (2015) recruits trusted musicians as part of his Ensemble (2015-2016), DJ’s traditionally or explores collaboration with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (2016), liberating moments of immediate expression remain a constant. After a year of introspection, David August re-emerges with a vitalizing, advanced, personal language. “Finding the courage to have a true dialogue with myself has been a challenging process. A never-ending path, I hope to explore in the most honest way possible.”

PANTHA DU PRINCE (DE)
Pantha Du Prince is the solo project of Hendrik Weber, fusing house, techno & shoegazey indie on Lawrence's introvert-techno label Dial Records. Weber started playing guitar at thirteen, first playing bass guitar in rock outfits. He later moved onto electronic based music, first via a 16-channel studio mixer, combining drones with samples and a computer. These early experiments formed the basis for both his experimental music as Panthel and Glühen 4 as well as his techno as Pantha Du Prince. Weber has released five albums and various 12” singles under the moniker, each a bittersweet take techno that 'll appeal to dancefloors as well as living rooms. The house & techno side of the equation takes its cues from Detroit, Moodymann, minimal and acid, while the indie tendencies are rooted in My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and psychedelia – he even rejigs The Chills jangle-pop ‘Pink Frost’ for the dancefloor on ‘Diamond Daze’. Weber also plays bass in the Hamburg band Stella, and the instrument is also given prominence on his recordings as Pantha Du Prince.

LINDSTRØM (NO)
Raised on country and western music in the outskirts of the Norwegian oil town Stavanger, Hans-Peter Lindstrøm now lives in Oslo where he is making contemporary disco and running his Feedelity label. His first success was the jazzy “Granada”, being championed by the likes of Giles Peterson before releasing a flow of highly acclaimed EPs, singles and remixes for names like Franz Ferdinand, Killers, The Horrors and LCD Soundsystem alongside two Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas duo albums on Eskimo Recordings. Since then, Lindstrøm has gone on to release two more albums and work alongside the likes of Todd Terje and many more.

NATHAN FAKE (UK)
Growing up in Norfolk and attending a school where being into music made you an outsider, Nathan Fake’s early interest in the electronic scene came from hearing acts like Aphex Twin and Orbital on the radio and reading about the equipment they used in music magazines. Having begun to acquire and experiment with his own gear, an encounter with James Holden in 2003 led him to align with the then fledgling label Border Community, releasing his first material, the ‘Outhouse’ single, that same year. The relationship with Holden’s label continued with further EP releases - “The Sky Was Pink” and “Silent Night” - leading to his breakthrough debut album “Drowning In A Sea Of Love”, released in 2006 to widespread praise from the likes of Pitchfork and the Guardian, and hailed as one of Mixmag’s top albums of that year. Fake recorded two further albums for the label - 2009’s “Hard Islands” and “Steam Days” in 2012 - before establishing his own label Cambria Instruments in 2014 alongside former Border Community associate Wesley Matsel. Their collaborative single ‘Black Drift / Bismuth’ was followed by Fake's solo effort “Glaive” EP in 2015. Throughout this time he also took on a number of impressive and diverse remixes, from Radiohead to Jon Hopkins to Clark, working for labels such as Ninja Tune, Domino, Warp and Kompakt. Extensive touring has taken his sound across the globe, including notable tours with Orbital, Four Tet, Jon Hopkins & Clark. In September 2016 Nathan announced his signing to Ninja Tune with "DEGREELESSNESS / Now We Know” 12”, and on 10th March 2017 released his fourth album “Providence”, featuring his first ever collaborative works - with Prurient (aka Vatican Shadow / founder of Hospital Productions) and Raphaelle Standell-Preston of the band Braids. Described by FACT magazine as “A career-defning LP”, it gained high praise from publications such as The Observer, DJ Mag (Album Of The Month), Wire and Crack, was Bleep's ‘Album Of The Week' and had support throughout the year from Four Tet, Ben UFO, Helena Hauff and many more. Later in 2017 Nathan released two “Providence Reworks” EPs featuring Overmono, Huerco S, Konx-Om-Pax and Olga Wojciechowsk. Nathan released “Sunder” EP, methodologically and sonically distinct from his previous work, the 4-track release arrived on Ninja Tune on 23rd February.

London-based, Beijing-raised Object Blue is a producer who combines experimental sounds with techno, focusing on their potential as live performances. Named as one of the 10 techno/house producers to watch in 2018 by FACT magazine, she continues to perform a diverse range of music, including live techno, experimental installations and DJ sets. Her debut EP Do you plan to end a siege? was premiered by Mixmag and released by Tobago Tracks in March 2018.

With a particular affinity for post-punk, techno and vintage electronica, Debonair connects the musical dots. As a radio station manager and programming director at NTS, she built the station up as well as holding a residency since the beginning. Cruising between the lines of EBM, post-punk, techno, electro and more, you can be sure that Debonair will bring amazing (and weird) bangers to the party. These days she's concentrating on her own show as well as stepping out as a respected club DJ, known for on-point selections and invigorating sets. DEBONAIR is a regular on London's underground club circuit, delivering energy to venues like Fabric, Oval Space and Corsica Studios and has shared bills with a formidable and eclectic set of artists including Nidia Minaj, Fis, DMX Krew and Lena Wilikins. She also runs her own party, Linear Space (co-curated with Chloe Frieda), and has hosted Borusiade, Karen Gwyer, Xenoglossix and Shelley Parker.

SAMA' (PS)
An emblematic artist of the Palestinian underground scene, SAMA’ (previously named Skywalker) is the first Palestinian DJ and electronic music producer. SAMA’ started mixing in 2006 in Ramallah, and started producing her own music and expanding her interest in synthesis in 2010, with a focus on Electronic Music, more specifically Techno, House, and other deeper sub-genres. Her sound: a powerful punchy techno, dry and musical all at once, with a very unique twist of her own. In 2011, she moved to the UK to acquire a Bachelor of Science in Audio Engineering and Music Production from S.A.E. London, further improving her technical skills. Soon after, she released two albums as Skywalker, «Life’s Pace» a debut EP with Itchycoo Records, and «Quantum Morphosis», a self-released independent triptych (available on itunes and all major platforms). SAMA’ then started her career in Cairo in 2013 as an Audio Engineer, Music Producer, Audio Trainer and Sound Designer for films. In 2016, she partnered with Eka3 to start a publishing agency of its first kind called Awyav, which represents independent artists from all over the Arab world. In 2017, as she was about to settle in Paris, SAMA’ decided to change her artist name from Skywalker to SAMA’ her original name which means Sky in Arabic. The same year, SAMA’ was selected as a Laureate by the French Institute to attend a six months residency at the International City of Arts in Paris, in order to work on her next album and live show.

LOKIER (MX)
Lokier (full name: Yoan Rodriguez Lokier) is a Mexican born, Berlin based DJ and producer. Taking inspiration from the indie / post-punk scene with her 1st EP’s & remixes releasing as early as 2014 on labels like Les Disques De La Mort or Throne Of Blood, her sound has been naturally evolving to more dark, industrial and electro territory since moving to the German capital. Her dj sets have also taken the same path, adding raw sounds & acid-tinged synths to the equation, making them more complex & raw. Alongside French DJ, producer & longtime friend Morgan Hammer (Optimo Trax), they became She Made Monster, where both their energies were channeled in to explosive dj sets. 2018 Lokier releases include: a full EP on Solar’s "Squirrels On Film" in March, a remix for The Soft Moon on Aufnahme & Wiedergabe, her guest vocals on Djedjotronic’s cover of Gary Newman's "Our Friends Electric" (Boys Noize Records), followed by her debut 12" for Rotterdam’s Pinkman in October.

BLACK ATHENA (GR)
Black Athena are a DJ duo, a radio show and more recently a record label, conceived in and around the centre of Athens during the first decade of the millennium. In an underground music field that increasingly is about A&Ring music directly from the internet and creating labels spearheaded by artists already accepted as "cool", Black Athena is all about having a personal 'real' connection with the artists, helping develop them and putting them on a global stage. The sound of Black Athena is as much about the sound of contemporary US rap as expressed by Kendrick Lamar, Drake and A$ap Rocky, as it is about the Deep House blueprint of Moodymann and Theo Parrish. It is as much about Wiley, Skepta and D Double E as it is about Prince, Marvin Gaye, Prince Jammy & Chic.
